Abstract

Globalization has altered social, cultural, and economic environments in societies all over the world. Globalization has a great impact on language dynamics, affecting language diversity, endangerment, and the growth of dominant languages like English, among other things. In order to understand the various ways that globalization influences linguistic landscapes and patterns of language usage, this article explores the complex relationship between language and globalization. It does this by drawing on sociolinguistic theory and empirical research.
